Sturcture Fire – Dover Twp

Dover Twp Fire Dept responded to a reported barn fire this morning at approx 0428hrs. E9-2 arrived on scene with heavy smoke from the eaves and alot of electrical arcing. This was in a partially non hydrated area. Eventually 2300ft of 5in supply was stretched to get a hydrant. This did not include the 500ft of 5in E9-2 layed back the lane. E9-2 gave an update of a 60×50 metal pole building appear…s was going to be an offensive fire. Capt 9 attempted to complete a walk around but the delta side was blocked by 7 greenhouses that were approx 5th from the structure. He then went down the bravo side and was met with extreme heat and heavy fire that was blowing out of the entire Charlie side. Having seen the fire appeared to start in the building around side A and pushed out and was attempting to spread to exposures that were approx 25ft from side Charlie. Capt 9 changed to defensive mode and ordered a 2 1/2 inch line to side Charlie to try and put the fire back in to the building until a continuous watersupply could be established. Crews worked great with the circumstances they were presented with. The end result was the original fire building was a total loss which had been upon arrival. And only 6 out of a total of 10buildings suffered very minor heat damage…..this picture is a view of side Charlie and the contents on the ground that were on fire upon arrival. This was taken during a short time water supply was lost.
