The rescue committee left for Appleton, Wisconsin, to finalize the plans for DTFD’s new rescue. The rescue is expected to be delivered in November. The four DTFD members were FF Alan Wallace, FF Andrew Wallace, Captain Brian Widmayer, and Lieutenant Joseph Skinner. They will be back on March 1st.

Around 1030 hrs DTFD was dispatched to a working structure fire in Hellam Twp. Rescue 9 responded initially as the second RIT company, but once on scene they were put to work. Rescue 9 was on scene for about an hour.

Around 0100 hrs DTFD was dispatched to Spring Valley Mulch on Mill Creek Rd for a large mulch pile that was on fire. Engine 9-1 was assigned to the fill site at a hydrant on Canal Rd and Mill Creek Rd. The original 9-1 crew was on scene for 6 hours until being relieved from other station 9 firefighters. Crews from station 9 continued to rotate crews every 2 hours to the fill site for another 5 hours because of the extreme cold, until being released after 11 hours.
